Learning to Save Lives: Our Team’s CPR/AED Training Experience

June 6th, 2025

At Centerpoint Advisors, we believe that personal growth doesn’t just happen behind a desk—it happens when we step out of our comfort zones, learn something new, and come together as a team. That’s exactly what we did recently when our entire team participated in CPR and AED (Automated External Defibrillator) training. And let us tell you—it was not only incredibly informative, but also surprisingly fun!

This hands-on training session was more than just a break from our usual routine. It was a powerful reminder of how important it is to be prepared for emergencies, both in the workplace and at home. We learned how to recognize the signs of cardiac arrest, perform high-quality chest compressions, and use an AED effectively. While we hope we never have to use these skills, we now feel more confident knowing we could step in and potentially save a life if the need ever arises.

Why CPR/AED Training Matters

Did you know that nearly 70% of cardiac arrests happen at home? That means the life you save could be someone you love—a family member, a friend, or a neighbor. According to the American Heart Association, immediate CPR can double or even triple a person’s chance of survival. Yet, only about 46% of people who experience an out-of-hospital cardiac arrest receive the help they need before professional help arrives; Becoming CPR certified is not just a checkbox on a safety list—it’s a life-saving skill that empowers you to act when every second counts. With AEDs becoming more accessible in public spaces, knowing how to use one can make all the difference in a critical moment.

A Day of Learning, Laughing, and Team Bonding

While the subject matter was serious, the day itself was filled with energy, laughter, and a strong sense of camaraderie. From practicing chest compressions on training mannequins to role-playing emergency scenarios, we supported each other every step of the way. There were a few nervous chuckles and plenty of high-fives as we mastered each new skill.
What made this experience even more meaningful is knowing that the skills we gained aren’t just for the workplace—they’re for life. Whether we’re at a family gathering, a community event, or just out and about, we now carry the knowledge and confidence to step in and help if someone’s heart stops beating.
We’re proud of our team for embracing this challenge and taking the time to learn something so impactful. It’s a reflection of our values—caring for one another, staying prepared, and always striving to grow both personally and professionally.

Looking Ahead

This training was just one step in our ongoing commitment to health, safety, and community. We’re already exploring more ways to stay informed and proactive, from wellness initiatives to additional first aid training.
Here’s to learning, growing, and being ready to make a difference – because at the end of the day, it’s not just about what we do, it’s about how we show up for each other.
