At Centerpoint Advisors, Matt is able to apply his legal background to the ever changing world of finance. The intersection of law and finance has always intrigued him.

Matthew, has always been intrigued by the intersection of law and finance. They both rely heavily on rules and procedure, but also on creative thinking, and there is much to be learned from the history of each. With a strong background in both law and finance, he is able to constructively assist clients in achieving their goals through diligent research and maintaining best practices.

Background

Originally from Texas, Matthew earned his Bachelor of Arts in English from the University of Texas at Austin. After deciding on a move to the North East, he attended New England School of Law in Boston where he received his Juris Doctor. Matt came to Centerpoint after a working as an attorney and obtained FINRA series 7 and 24 licenses. Additionally, Matthew holds the IACCP® designation, which signals recognition of an advanced knowledge and skill level for investment adviser compliance professionals, and he is also a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ professional.

Working at Centerpoint

Matthew’s daily activities cover a broad spectrum of compliance matters and general project management. He leads business continuity and cybersecurity for the firm to ensure that our workflow is as seamless as possible. Matthew is also responsible for developing and maintaining the MyCenter portal, internal policies and procedures, firm regulatory filings and disclosures, reviewing all materials distributed by the firm, and conducting internal reviews. Clients appreciate his thorough research and attention to detail, as well as his assistance with questions regarding product research, class action solicitations, and regulatory matters.

Outside the Office

Outside of work, Matt likes to spend his days reading philosophy, practicing yoga, and thinking about his next travel destination. A vacation that allows him to incorporate yoga and philosophy is his ideal getaway, and he greatly enjoys trips to secluded areas of Costa Rica where he is able to do just that. Although all of the hobbies mentioned sound very peaceful and relaxing, Matt also incorporates adventure into his travels, and has taken part in excursions including sky diving, surfing, and walking tours through alligator habitats.
